Guardianwitness Assignments Discovery

The Guardian launches an app for crowdsourcing the news

The Guardian has created a new platform that allows readers to submit photos, video and text directly to reporters. GuardianWitness, available on iOS and Android, makes it possible for people to contribute to stories in real-time:

GuardianWitness is built directly into the Guardian’s content management system, meaning journalists can view and select user contributions to their articles as they are submitted.

Users will be encouraged to submit contributions to live breaking news and other assignments – such as the “tall buildings” topic –that are set each week by Guardian editors.

All of the content submitted will be vetted by community co-ordinators before being published. Guardian journalists will then choose whether or not to include the submission in their article or assignment.
