The Junior League of Westchester-on-Hudson (JLWOH) is awarding a scholarship to a female high school senior who will be attending a 2-4 year college in the Fall of 2018. The recipient would have demonstrated exemplary commitment to volunteerism within the 24 month period ending March 31, 2018 and be awarded a $2,000 scholarship. The Beauty +Wellness Scholarship for Women each quarter will award $1,000 + a care package filled with healthy organic goodies to young women who are striving to maintain their health and wellness as they pursue their higher education goals. Must be graduating HS senior, US Citizen or Permanent Resident, and identify as a female. Quarterly Deadlines: January 1st, March 31st, June 30th, and September 30th every year. Beauty + Wellness Scholarship
Rotary Club Scholarship. The Rivertowns Rotary Club has established a $1,500 scholarship for any senior who plans to attend a four year college. Deadline for submission is April 9th. Please come to the Guidance Office for an application form.
Justin Veatch 2018 Fund Music Scholarship is awarding six $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to further study in music. Deadline for submission is April 16, 2018. Applications can be obtained in the Guidance Office or by downloading the application at www.thejustinveatchfund.org.
NYSSCPA Accounting Scholarship is available to seniors who have committed to enter the accounting profession and pursue accounting as a major in college. Deadline for submission is April 27, 2018. You can download the application form by clicking on the link below.

Westchester Recreation and Parks Society (WRAPS)is offering an awards scholarship for High School students who will be pursuing adegree in the parks and Recreation field called The Henry B. Funking scholarship. This scholarship is available for HS seniors who plan to enter a College or University in the Fall of 2018. All applications must be submitted by Friday April 6th. The Westchester Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”) is again offering scholarships to provide financial assistance to deserving applicants who have committed to enter the accounting profession and pursue accounting as a major in college. Scholarships of up to $1,000.00 are awarded to each selected applicant. Eligibility requirements are included in the application form, a copy of which is attached. Applicants are selected for the scholarship based on GPA (grade transcript required), extracurricular activities, essay, and timely submission of the information submitted. Deadline for submission is Friday April 27, 2018. Interested students should mail/email applications and supporting documentation (transcripts, essay, etc.)
Where to Find Accounting Scholarships
To locate an accounting scholarship, we suggest you start with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). At the AICPA you will find scholarships for accounting students who are earning an undergraduate degree as well as awards for minority graduate students. Scholarships can be from $2,500 to $5,000. The minority scholarships can reach $12,000. In 2013, a lot of other kinds of accounting scholarships will be awarded. Check here for the following additional accounting scholarship providers:
1) The Government Finance Officers Association has some scholarships from $2,000 to $10,000.
2) The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has 15 awards of $1,000 each year.
3) The National Society of Accountants has several accounting scholarships.
State Society of CPAs and Accounting Scholarships
You can also find an accounting scholarship thanks to the accounting society of your state of residence. For example, in the state of New York, the Foundation for Accounting has the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and its Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE). This accounting scholarship is based mostly on financial need, but academic performance is also a factor as a 3.0 GPA is required.
Another example is in the state of Illinois, where the Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship Programs help accounting students pay for college.They offer the Illinois CPA Society Advancing Women in Accounting Scholarship of up to $4,000 and the Herman J. Neal Scholarship Program for African-American accounting students, of up to $4,000. There is also the Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship Program every year, with scholarships of up to $2,000 each.
When it comes to how to pay for college, accounting students will find that college scholarships and college grants are the best place to start looking before taking upon options such as work-study and student loans.
The National Society of Accountants 2013 Scholarships
U.S. or Canadian citizens who are enrolled part-time or full-time in an accounting degree program at an accredited two- or four-year college or university can apply.
Candidates should demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement, leadership skills, participation in school and community activities, and work experience. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
The NSA Scholarships range from $500 – $2,000. In 2013, the NSA is expected to award at least 30 scholarships to accounting students.

Accounting Scholarships by The American Woman’s Society of CPAs
The American Woman’s Society of CPAs offers a national scholarship to women who wish to become a CPAs. The scholarship recipient receives the complete Becker CPA Review Course valued at $3,065. Becker Professional Education is a Platinum Sponsor of the American Woman’s Society of CPAs and coordinates the review course directly with the scholarship winner. Applicants are required to submit an essay of 1,000 words or less to explain why they deserve the scholarship. Financial need and scholastic aptitude will be considered.

For accounting students seeking help paying for college, sources such as one’s state CPA society, universities, federal and state college grants and scholarships for accounting students from accounting societies on the national level can help make it affordable to earn an accounting degree.
